Breaking Boundaries:

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in the Space Industry

Women are driving innovation in space, yet the odds remain stacked against them:

It begins by making space for women

The UK space sector is growing rapidly, yet female entrepreneurs remain significantly underrepresented. Women account for just 12% of founders in the space industry, facing barriers such as limited funding access, fewer networking opportunities, and systemic biases. This report, commissioned by the UK Space Agency Accelerator, explores the challenges women encounter when launching space ventures, highlights their successes, and proposes concrete actions to improve gender diversity.

While female-led businesses demonstrate strong innovation and financial returns, they receive only a fraction of available funding and struggle to gain visibility in the sector. By addressing these disparities, fostering mentorship, and improving access to investment, the space industry can unlock new opportunities for women entrepreneurs—driving both economic growth and technological advancement.
