This session, delivered by Mike Stephens, will focus on understanding how the things that happen in your brain during a working day can seriously affect your performance, and what you can do about it. Sharing insights from working with over 200 Space startup founders, we will explore important entrepreneurial challenges:

What's stopping you from getting through your to-do list
Why you might be a people-pleaser from a neuroscience perspective

Please note: you will have the opportunity to take part in all of these sessions – we will be splitting attendees into groups and rotating during this slot.

The Investor Insights session is an in-depth Q&A with a panel of seasoned investors. This is a fantastic opportunity to be face to face with Angels and VCs and get firsthand insights into getting your business ready for investment, and how to impress them. Come armed with all the questions you ever wanted to ask an investor!

5.45pm-7.30pm: Networking Drinks Reception

SPEAKER INFORMATION
Annelies Look – Deputy CEO, UK Space Agency
Prior to taking up the appointment of Deputy CEO for UK Space Agency, Annelies was the Senior Responsible Owner (job share) for the Rail Transformation Programme in the Department for Transport which is a once in a generation change to Britain’s railways that will fundamentally reform the way in which the sector and all organisations within it operate. Previously Annelies has a 23-year career in the civil service specialising in transformation, capital and digital project delivery focusing on the early project lifecycle at the policy/delivery interface. Annelies stepped out of the civil service for 2 years in 2016 to be the KMPG UK Project, Programme and Portfolio Management lead in Aerospace, Defence and Security. More recently Annelies was the Programme Director for COVID-19 Testing within Test and Trace and the Build Director for the COVID-19 the Managed Quarantine Service for the Department for Health and Social Care - winning the 2022 APM Social Project of the year award. Annelies is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Project Professional and spends her spare time having fun on the water with her husband and 11-year-old son.
Mike Stephens - CEO, Entrepreneurial Spark
Mike has worked with startups and growth companies for over 15 years. Before joining Entrepreneurial Spark his role in corporate finance involved growth funding, leveraged transactions and acquisitions, giving him deep experience of finance, business models and strategy across a range of sectors. Following a successful exit in 2018, Mike re-founded Entrepreneurial Spark and launched the proposition globally, expanding delivery across Central America, Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. As well as directly supporting over 500 entrepreneurs in that time, Mike has experienced the founder journey through the previous exit, then raising investment, building a team and growing Entrepreneurial Spark to where it is today.
Gabriella Goddard - CEO, Brainsparker Leadership Academy
Gabriella Goddard is the CEO of the Brainsparker Leadership Academy with 20+ years of Executive Coaching and Leadership Development experience. She is an alumni of the International Space University Executive Program, and a Mentor for UK Space Agency Accelerators. She is part of the Forbes Coaches Council and a specialist in leading innovation, disruptive strategy, and personal branding.
Katie King - CEO, BioOrbit
Dr. Katie King is the CEO of BioOrbit, a company building a pharmaceuticals factory in microgravity to revolutionise cancer treatment. BioOrbit aims to bring a paradigm shift to the administration route of cancer treatments. Much like diabetics self-inject with solutions of crystalline insulin, through crystallising antibodies in microgravity, subcutaneous derivatives of anticancer treatments can be formulated, enabling cancer sufferers to self-inject at home. Katie completed her PhD in nanomedicine at the University of Cambridge in 2022, has worked at NASA, AstraZeneca and spent several years as an RAF volunteer reservist. She is a strong believer that science in a microgravity environment can be used to accelerate healthcare and drug development on Earth, and recently won the ‘Innovator Award 2024’ at Everywoman in Tech Awards and Codex World top 50 Innovators ‘Top Female Innovator’. Her vision is to see BioOrbit as the go to manufacturing line and research facility in microgravity.
Andy Bennett - Space Lead, Innovate UK
Andy has worked worked for 10 years as the Space Lead at Innovate UK Business Connect designing and running programmes and supporting the space community in the UK. The core work has involved supporting UK space businesses with their commercialisation activities, business model development, sourcing grants and private investment, and establishing connections and collaborations using his vast network of contacts.
Andy has a background in technology and innovation working for the Science & Technology Facilities Council and Queen Mary University of London. During his career he has gained significant experience in managing commercialisation activities, building partnerships and broad knowledge of the space and non-space sectors. He has a strong passion for innovation and transfer of technology from academia to industry particularly in the fields of space, climate, nature and biodiversity. Andy is also an advisory board member to the AstrobiologyOU programme at the Open University and the Satellite Finance Network.
